The Laboratoire Aim\u00e9-Cotton<\/strong> (LAC), located in Orsay<\/a>, is an evolutionary research formation (FRE no<\/sup> 2038) of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique<\/a> (CNRS) and the Universit\u00e9 Paris-Saclay<\/a>. It was created at the initiative of the famous physicist Aim\u00e9 Cotton<\/a>, the project was started as early as 1914 to be finally inaugurated by Aim\u00e9 Cotton on July 9, 1928.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creation of the Great Electro-Magnet Laboratory<\/h3>

Created in 1927, it was the annex of the Laboratory of Physical Research of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Paris. (1890-1970)<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Renamed to “Aim\u00e9 Cotton Laboratory”<\/h3>

First laboratory to take the name of a person, this initiative was pushed by Pierre Jacquinot.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Moving to the Orsay campus<\/h3>

The LAC moves to the Orsay campus under the direction of Robert Chabbal.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The LAC becomes a UMR<\/h3>

The LAC goes from a UPR to a UMR under triple supervision (CNRS, Universit\u00e9 Paris-Saclay, formerly Paris-Sud, ENS de Cachan).<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Transition of the UMR to a FRE<\/h3>

The UMR is dissolved in 2019 to make way for the FRE 2038, which takes the name of the laboratory, and the LuMin.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
